{Political_Views} Mitt Romney NRA - Willard Romney and the Reality of Gun Control - Esquire (PULS A RANT)

It's call the NRA which stands for the National Rifle Association, and please take not of the second word here RIFLE. Now will people tell me when did a handgun become a rifle?
When you see a gun show sponsored by the NRA you see few RIFLE'S but many handguns. You hear the NRA rally against handgun registration by saying they will come and take
you RIFLE'S that they use for spot and hunting. Does any here see the contradiction of saying that. How many rifle owners who hunt have a handgun? How many hand gun owners have a rifle?
I will bet it's not as many as one thinks. So what is the problem here? It's because President Obama is a Democrat and according to NRA propraganda it's the Democrat's the LIBERALS who
want gun control. Well here are some facts.
In 1969 William Safire asked Nixon what he though about gun control. "Guns are an abomination," Nixon replied. According to Safire, Nixon went on to confess that, "Free from fear of gun owners' retaliation at the polls, he favored making handguns illegal and requiring licenses for hunting rifles.
In 1967 it was Governor RONALD REAGAN of California who signed the Mulfor Act, "prohibiting the carring of arms on one's person or in a vehicle, in any public place or on any public Street."  Twenty-four years later, Reagan was still pushing gun contro;. "I support the Brady Bill," he said in a March 28, 1991 speech, "and I urge the Congress to enact it without further delay."
It was President George Bus Sr., who banned the import of "assault weapons" in 1989, and promoted the view that Americans should only be allowed to own weapons suitable for "sporting Puroses."
MORE Rudolph Giuliani is one of the most aggressive gun control advocates. As mayor of New York his administration sued 26 gun manufacturers in June 2000, and who police commissioner, Howard Safir, proposed a nationwide plan for gun licensing.
New York Republicon Governor George Pataki, on August 10, 2000 (a year before 9/11/0 signed into law what was called "the nation's strictest gun controls," mandating trigger locks, background checks as gun shows and "ballistic fingerprinting," of guns sold in the state. It also raised the age to buy a handgun to 21 and banned assault weapons the sale or possession. (7 years min in prison)
Now let's look at G.W. Bush the man Republicons seem to deny ever exsisted.

Would sign, but would not push, gun restrictions

Bush has said he would sign a law requiring trigger locks with handgun sales but wouldn't push such legislation. Bush has endorsed outlawing the import of certain high-capacity ammunition clips. Bush also would raise the legal age for handgun purchases from 18 to 21.

Ban automatic weapons & high-capacity ammunition clips

  • Supports stronger enforcement of existing gun laws, would provide more funding for aggressive gun law enforcement programs such as Project Exile in Richmond, Virginia
  • Supports requiring instant background checks at gun shows by allowing gun show promoters to access the instant check system on behalf of vendors
  • Supports law-abiding American's constitutional right to own guns to protect their families and home
  • Supports the current ban on automatic weapons
  • Supports banning the importation of foreign made, "high-capacity" ammunition clips
  • Supports voluntary safety locks
  • Opposes government mandated registration of all guns owned by law abiding citizens

There is more but you get the point. The  next time you hear a NRA rally against the Liberials please remember to tell them to check their facts.
