{Political_Views} Newt's Last Prayer: Christian Dominionists Go Gingrich | The Nation AND A RANT

SECULAR-- Does any right-winger know the meaning of this word? I doubt it. So let me put it here.
Secular--1. NOT RELIGIOUS; Not connected with any church.
             2. Not bound by a monastic vow.
Source Webster's New World Dictionary.

So to remind the evangelical right, Newt, Rick (Perry and Santorum) Mitt, Michael and the rest that also means not bound or connected with the
Christian religion ANY BRANCH OR FORM of Christian religion. For these people to even campaign on religion would be and is a  violation of their
oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. This country was not founded on the bible nor was it founded on the Torah, the Quran
or the teachings of Buddha or any other religious publication. I know their are people who point out that buildings in Washington have the 10 commandments on them,
have Christian prayers or sayings and they point to them as proof of the Founders wanting a Christian nation. Well folks look at when they were built.
The Founders of this country were all dead and gone by this time and from reading the writings of several I have doubt they would have approved.

I hear this Freedom of religion quote from Preachers, political candidates, I hear the statements that the government want to curtail one's
belief. I hear the statement that we must get back on the road to salvation and a Christian nation. Well BULL SHIT. What I hear is people
saying one can have all the religious freedom they want as long as it is Christian freedom practiced like they say it should be practiced.
I hear people who want to live in the dark ages, WHICH BY THE WAY THAT'S WHAT THEY CALLED IT WHEN RELIGION DID RULE.
I hear people quoting the bible which just happen to be written a thousand years before Christians knew America even existed.
They quote it alright but mostly 99.9 percent of the time the OLD Testament. Oh they bring up the name of Jesus and quote Genesis or Exodus and they
are great at  quoting Leviticus. About the only book of the new Testament they love is Revelations. By the way that book starts with saying in
chapter one that ---"things which MUST happen shortly." I do not think 2000 years later it shortly do you?? How many people have jumped off
a cliff swallowed the kool-aide or taken the poison believing this?

Anyway back to a SECULAR government. That word and the First Amendment must be a thorn in these so called Christians. It works
both ways. The government cannot dictate to any religion what it preaches or the way it worships. But then again a religion any religion
cannot dictate to the government on how it must govern. It also surprises me that they forget another right in that amendment; the right
of the people  peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for redress of grievances. No offense intended here but since most
of these so-called Evangelical's, Baptists, born again Christens come from the south they forget about the dog's water hosing and killings that
took place when King peaceably sat down at a lunch counter or Rosa Parks at the front of a bus.

Republican's (i.e. CONS) want it both ways. You want government not to dictate to you what to do say or pray or how to live your lives. While at
the same time you want to dictate what those who do not agree or want to live the way you do how we should live ours.

I'll end this with some did you knows that I got off the net.

The original Constitution of the United States that was ratified in 1789 had only one reference to religiol; [article 6] NO RELIGIOUS TEST SHALL EVER BE REQUIRED AS A QUALIFICATION TO ANY OFFICE OR PUBLIC TRUST UNDER THE UNITED STATES. (so lets leave the first amendment out of the Presidential race).

The defacto motto of the United states, adopted as part of the Great Seal of the U.S. by an act of congress in 1782 was E. PLURIBUS UNUM (Out of Many, One). Congress changed it 174 years later (1956) to "In God We Trust."
  NOT OUR FOUNDING FATHERS IDEA.

The original "Pledge of Allegiance" was written in 1892 by a Baptist Minister Francis Bellamy who DID NOT INCLUDE the words "Under God." Those were added by Congress (against the will of Bellamy's family) 62 years later (1954)

The U.S. didn't issue Currency until 1861, and "In God We Trust" didn't appear on it for 96 years (1957)

In a time when fear is traded like a commody and the words socialism  and God are being used to create the same fear racism and hate of the old word Communism, let's remember our country was not founded on fear or a religious crusade with Washington riding in front of the troops carrying a cross. No our nation was founded out of hope for a better world where all the people are EQUAL not just those who believe on one religion or another. That like the original motto of this country says we were ONE from MANY.

{Political_Views} Water Bills Expected to Triple in Some Parts of US

Made a miscalculation at a $1 a bottle it's around $8 a gallon, but still high.

Well they are complaining and rightfully so, but then again they go out and buy bottled water which cost 10 times more then what their water bill is. The average cost of a gallon of bottled water in 12 bottles even at a $1. a bottle is $10.66.
Mylast bill for water was $53.46 I was billed for 17000 gallons a lot of water because I had a break in the line but divide 17,000 into 53.46 and it come to .0031458 a gallon.
So stop drinking bottled water if you want to save money on your water bill.

{Political_Views} If You Have A Dog Please Read

If you have a dog ... PLEASE read
this and send it on. If you don't
have a dog, please pass along

This week I had the first case in history of raisin

toxicity ever seen at MedVet. My patient was
a 56-pound, 5 yr old male neutered lab mix
that ate half a canister of raisins sometime
between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM on Tuesday. He
started with vomiting, diarrhea and shaking
about 1 AM on Wednesday but the owner didn't
call my emergency service until 7 AM.

I had heard somewhere about raisins AND

grapes causing acute Renal failure but hadn't
seen any formal paper on the subject. We
had her bring the dog in immediately. In the
meantime, I called the ER service at MedVet,
and the doctor there was like me - had heard
something about it, but... Anyway, we
contacted the ASPCA National Animal Poison
Control Center and they said to give IV fluids
at 1 & 1/2 times maintenance and watch the
kidney values for the next 48-72 hours.
The dog's BUN (blood urea nitrogen level) was
already at 32 (normal less than 27) and
creatinine over 5 (1.9 is the high end of normal).
Both are monitors of kidney function in the
bloodstream. We placed an IV catheter and
started the fluids. Rechecked the renal values
at 5 PM and the BUN was over 40 and creatinine
over 7 with no urine production after a liter of
fluids. At that point I felt the dog was in acute
renal failure and sent him on to MedVet for a
urinary catheter to monitor urine output overnight
as well as overnight care.
He started vomiting again overnight at MedVet
and his renal values continued to increase
daily. He produced urine when given lasix as a
diuretic. He was on 3 different anti-vomiting
medications and they still couldn't control his
vomiting. Today his urine output decreased
again, his BUN was over 120, his creatinine was
at 10, his phosphorus was very elevated and his
blood pressure, which had been staying around
150, skyrocketed to 220 ... He continued to vomit
and the owners elected to Euthanize.

This is a very sad case - great dog, great owners

who had no idea raisins could be a toxin. Please
alert everyone you know who has a dog of this
very serious risk.
Poison control said as few as 7 raisins or grapes could
be toxic. Many people I know give their dogs grapes
or raisins as treats including our ex-handler's. Any
exposure should give rise to immediate concern.
Onions, chocolate, cocoa, avocadoes and macadamia nuts can
be fatal, too.

Even if you don't have a dog, you might have friends

who do. This is worth passing on to them.

Warren Buffett, in  an interview with CNBC , offers one of the best quotes about the debt  ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in 5  minutes," he told CNBC . "You  just
pass a  law that  says that anytime there is a deficit of  more
than 3% of   GDP , all  sitting members of Congress are  ineligible
         for  re-election.

The  26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18  year-olds)
took only 3  months & 8 days to be ratified!  Why? Simple!  c
The people demanded it.  That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail,
         cell phones,  etc.

Of the 27 amendments to  the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1)  year
or less to become the  law of the land - all because of public  pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking  each addressee to forward this email  to
a minimum of twenty  people on their address list; in turn  ask
each of those to do  likewise.

In  three days, most people in The United States of America  will
have the  message.  This is one idea that really should be  passed
          around.

    Congressional Reform Act of  2012
         1. No  Tenure / No  Pension.

A  Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives  no
pay when they're out of  office.

         2.   Congress (past, present & future) participates in  Social
           Security.

All  funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to  the
Social Security system  immediately. All future funds flow  into
the Social Security  system, and Congress participates with  the
American people. It  may not be used for any other  purpose.

         3.  Congress can purchase their own retirement plan,  just as  all
        Americans  do.

        4. Congress will  no longer vote themselves a pay  raise.
Congressional pay  will rise by the lower of CPI or  3%.

        5. Congress loses  their current health care system  and
participates in the  same health care system as the American  people.

         6.  Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on  the
         American  people.

        7. All  contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are  void
effective 1/1/12. The  American people did not make  this
         contract with  Congressmen/women.

Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving  in
Congress is an honor,  not a career. The Founding  Fathers
envisioned citizen  legislators, so ours should serve  their
term(s), then go  home and back to  work.

If each  person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it  will
only take three days  for most people (in the U.S. ) to  receive
the message.   Don't you think it's time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX  CONGRESS!
If you  agree, pass it on. If not,  delete.
You are one of my  20+ - Please keep it going, and thanks

{Political_Views} Grayson Slams Santorum on National TV

Not Our Cup of Tea

On Monday night, Alan Grayson was Ed Schultz's first guest on the Ed Show, on MSNBC. The subject was Rick Santorum comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler. (Santorum later claimed that he was referring to someone else.) Here is what they said:

ED SCHULTZ: I`m joined tonight by former Congressman Alan Grayson of Florida, who is running for the seat [again], after some redistricting. Congressman, good to have you with us tonight.

ALAN GRAYSON: Thank you.

SCHULTZ: You`ve heard this kind of rhetoric out there before. Do you believe Rick Santorum needs to be held accountable, and give us a name as to who he was talking about in Europe back in the `40s, and comparing it to President Obama?

GRAYSON: Of course, but Rick Santorum says things like that almost every day. In the very same speech, Ed, he said among other things that President Obama is the worst president we`ve had on security -- the very worst. The worst president on the economy. And he said that President Obama wants higher gas prices.

This is part of the vilification and demonizing of the President that you hear all the time on Glenn Beck, you hear all the time on Rush Limbaugh, you hear all the time on Sean Hannity`s show. He`s simply articulating that for that same audience, the Tea Party fanatics who are determining the Republican primary.

SCHULTZ: I mean, in that speech, wasn`t [Santorum] drawing a parallel as to what Europe and the world faced back in 1940, and what we as a country face and what the world is looking at right now and said, well, you know, he was a nice guy but kind of made a mistake. It was very clear to me he was talking about Adolf Hitler and making the comparison to the President of the United States. Is that a deliberate strategy in your opinion?

GRAYSON: It`s a deliberate strategy to vilify the President, to make it seem that he`s an illegitimate president. We`ve seen this since before he was elected. It won`t work, because 67 million Americans voted for him last time, and more than 67 million are going to vote for him this time. But what [Santorum is] doing is playing to that particular paranoid audience, and the paranoid style of American politics, trying to make them angry and fearful of Barack Obama to the point they will support [Santorum]. That`s what he`s doing and I think he is doing it consciously.

Alan Grayson does what few others have the courage to do – point out that Santorum and all the Republican candidates are demonizing President Obama in order to cater to the extremist Tea Party. And ain't that the truth? That's why Alan Grayson deserves your support.

SCHULTZ: And we`re talking about the man who now leads in the national poll by 10 points over his closest challenger, and that would be Mitt Romney. What do you make of that?

GRAYSON: Well, only a tiny fraction of the populace ever has anything to do with the Republican primaries. The turnout in Maine last week was less than one-half of one percent of the population -- 1.3 million people live in Maine, and 5,000 voted in their primary to choose the next President. We`re talking about the absolute fringe, the absolute radical fringe. And if these are the people who are going to generate the opponent to Barack Obama in the next election -- God help us all.

Alan Grayson tells it like it is -- Tea Party fanatics are virtually the only ones who are choosing President Obama's November opponent. Someone needs to stand up to the Tea Party, and you can always count on Alan Grayson to do that.

SCHULTZ: Why would Santorum`s spokesperson say [that President Obama supports] Islamic policies when talking about environmental policies?

GRAYSON: Again, it`s no different from what you hear all the time on Fox News and on hate radio. Rick Santorum, like millions of other Americans, has been immersed in hate radio and Fox News for years, for decades. And now, this is the result of it. He`s the Tea Party candidate. He`s the one that they really want, and this is what you see. There is a gaping chasm between the Tea Party and the rest of America. But they`re going to generate the next Republican candidate, whether we like it or not.

I think people would love to see an honest debate, between two honest people with different points of view. But you`re not going to see that, because the Tea Party is going to choose a candidate who spews nothing but hatred. That`s exactly what Rick Santorum is doing, has done, and will do.

SCHULTZ: Alan Grayson, great to have you us tonight. Thanks so much for joining us.

WE NEED ALAN GRAYSON IN CONGRESS. Someone who is bold. Someone who is fearless. Someone who tells the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Click here now, and support Alan Grayson's campaign.

{Political_Views} Sex, Rick Santorum and the conservative imagination | Ana Marie Cox | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk

It runs in the family. My older sisters response to this post.

If it wouldn't be so sad, it would be prime time comedy. A panel of all male middle age Washington politicians talking before Congress subcommittee on the issue of contraception vs. religious "freedom". What I read into this is "we want to control, control, control" all females & choose which "freedoms" stay & which go. Hey guys....it's 2012 NOT 1512. Wake up & accept the facts. Birth control would NOT be an issue if you'd keep it in your pants (or hands, your choice). In 1512 females were considered property, bartered in marriage for political alliances to produce offspring or carted off to a nunnery, chastity belts were used. The "Church" (all male) made the rules & females had little to no rights. Looks like times have NOT changed that much. Hard to believe in 2012 any female with active brain cells would buy into the current line of bullshit. Remember females can VOTE (of course with a valid photo ID card). Give up the ghost, guys. Times have changed. There are multitudes of females chopping at the bit to replace you in Congress. If my tax dollar goes to making guns/missiles/war, why NOT paying for protection of another sort thru contraceptives. You guys could then get your "action" & we females could get a good night's sleep. Sex is here to stay, guys. Always will be. Get with the program or get the Hell out of politics. As for Sanatorium, my guess is he's playing w/fire & will get burned. B.
