Maybe it's because of what I hear now and then from people I work with and in taverns I drink in, "Well they asked for it." "Paybacks are a bitch," "If they had not wanted to suffer they would not have left hteir leaders do what they did, they would have gotten rid of them."
When it comes to the Middel it's because they are of the religious feeling that no matter what Christanity must be destroyed.
Also we see the disasters of earthquakes, tsunami's and hurricanes 24/7 on TV we do not see the death and destruction war brings. Why is that? To me it is because the corporations who make billions peddiling death and destruction know that if the American people saw that 24/7 we would call for an end to war and God forbid that happens.
